Spider-Man 2
07/06/04

Spider-Man 2 opened last week to the tune of millions and millions of dollars. I have mixed emotions about how comic books have been whored around Hollywood in the past few years. Let's review. Comic books = good. Movies = (usually) good. So, is it true that all movies based on comic books = good? Or is there too much of a good thing?

Nonetheless, Spider-Man 2 was a decent movie. There are only really two sticking points. Dr. Octopus never gets a real costume during the movie. He just walks around shirtless and flabby most of the time, then he gets a trench coat; not much better. Secondly, Spider-Man reveals his "secret" identity to too many people. Let's see, who and all knows his identity now? There's Harry Osborne (the major bad guy in the next Spider-Man), Dr. Octopus, Mary Jane, oh and a whole train car full of people! So much for keeping everything under wraps.
